Our Story
For as long as he could remember, Michael wanted to be an entrepreneur who made a difference to the world; what he didn’t know, was how he was going to do it or in what field he was going to excel in. So, like most undecided high school students, he opted to go to college and just “figure it out” along the way. A bachelor in economics and accounting from UC Santa Barbara, a master in accounting from Walsh College and a CPA designation later, Michael found himself to be an young auditor/internal controls consultant for one of the largest regional CPA firms in Southern California. He worked the typical public accounting hours and was introduced to an array of different companies, their operations and most importantly – their accounting departments. It wasn’t long before Michael began to see some truth in the stereotype that accountants are boring and unimaginative – he saw it in the accounting departments of otherwise successful businesses – he secretively promised himself, “when I own my company, I’d make sure my accounting department isn’t unimaginative and outdated when compared to the rest of my operation.”
But in 2009, Michael took an entirely different approach: he decided to create his ideal accounting department with an “always innovative” approach, complete with a team of knowledgeable staffs, cutting edge technology and a well designed system. Then he decided to share it with everyone. Here’s our vision:
1. Entrepreneurs can always use a good set of financial information to help grow their business – but they shouldn’t worry about the details of getting it
2. Innovative companies will leverage the expertise, the process and the technology provided by a constantly improving accounting department
With those ideas in mind, DeepSky was born.
We readily admit that we are not a traditional CPA firm who just happened to have a bookkeeping service. In fact, we are very proud to say that we are a company designed to become a replacement for in-house accounting departments. Just get us the source documents and we’ll provide you with a set of meaningful numbers that you can actually use to grow your businesses – it’s our vision and our only service – no tax, no audits and no distractions. Today, DeepSky consist of a small team of 4 (see our profiles by clicking on the links to the right!) but we are growing rapidly as we head into our third year… are you ready to become part of the DeepSky family and take your business to the next level?
